“Thank you very much for being here in Clearwater. We look forward to having you back for many years to come.” – Mayor George Cretekos, 2015

Come and participate in the chariot festival of the Lord of the Universe (Jagannatha Ratha Yatra), as has been enacted in Jagannatha Puri in India for millenia. It is one of the greatest opportunities to share the authentic practice of Krishna Consciousness as brought to the western world by His Divine Grace A.C. Bhaktivedanta Swami Prabhupada. Through the culture of Vedic arts; dance, music and philosophy, thousands of people have found renewed hope, meaning and joy in the teachings of Lord Sri Krishna (Sri Jagannatha).

By the age of six Srila Prabhupada became captivated by the Ratha Yatra festivals of Lord Jagannatha, held yearly in Calcutta. This festival mirrored the one held for centuries in Puri where three giant wooden carts carrying forms of the Lord are pulled by millions along a two-mile route, signifying inviting the Lord of the Universe into the heart of the devotees. Srila Prabhupada asked his father to help him build a cart so he could perform his own Ratha Yatra amongst his family and neighbors. Srila Prabhupada painted the cart and insisted on arranging various aspects of the festival which became a great success, running for eight consecutive days. Later in life he was to transport this entire spiritual culture to many of the major cities of the world which had never before seen such a transcendental festival.

By your personal participation in these festivals, you too can experience the love of Lord Jagannatha entering your life. By the devoted service of our growing community we have become an annual tradition throughout the major cities of Florida. There is much to do and many ways to be involved. We humbly ask for your participation in contributing your energy, creativity, resources and financial support to make this Ratha Yatra festival season the best yet.
